finished for the day.

Care Line

The Care Line was created for the convenience of our church members and concerned members of the community. The elders have set up the organization of this service so that everyone can conveniently stay well informed with the most current updates on our sick with just one phone call. This service is set up for 24/7 availability. Anyone who feels they are in need of our prayers is welcome to call and be put on the CareLine. Everyone is welcome to call our CareLine for the most current reports at 903-769-3058.

Ladies Bible Class

This class meets every Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM during school months. The classes are taught by very capable and knowledgeable ladies. All ladies of the community are encouraged to attend.

Men's Breakfast

The men of the congregation meet at Jewel's Cafe in Hawkins every Wednesday morning at 7:30 AM for a time of fellowship and breakfast. An invitation is open to all men of the community to come join the fellowship.

Heritage Visit

On the second Thursday of each month ladies from the Holly Lake Church of Christ visit the Heritage Nursing Home in Quitman from 2:00 to 3:30 PM. About two dozen residents participate in the games hosted by our ladies. Winners pick their prize from a “goody basket” prepared by the ladies. The ladies of our congregation bake cookies and bring them to church on Wednesday evening to be taken to the Heritage and are served to the residents after the games are over. This rewarding work is done with the oversight of Madelon Love. Ruth Smith served for 12 faithful years at this labor of love before resigning it to Madelon.

Do Drop In

Every Wednesday evening following our Bible Study we go to the Fellowship Hall and have cookies and coffee. This is a time of fellowship and getting to know each other better. We invite our community to join us and learn about Christ's church and let us get to know them better. We enjoy our visitors!

Leadership Training For Christ

Every Sunday at 5:00 PM our young people from ages 9-18 meet to do some in-depth studying of the Bible and training for future leadership roles in the church. We have some very knowledgeable teachers to do this training and the youth go home each Sunday evening with a better knowledge of how to live a more Christ-like life.

Grief Recovery Counseling

The purpose of this counseling is to encourage and comfort those who have recently lost loved ones. We seek to comfort those who are mourning by looking to God as the father of all comfort in discussion and prayer. Everyone in our community is invited to request counseling at any time they have a need.

Meals On Wheels

For many years the members of our congregation have participated in Meals on Wheels.

Annual July 4th Celebration

On July 4th, 2000 the Holly Lake Church of Christ began an annual tradition of celebrating July 4th with the community. The celebration is always held at the Holly Lake Church of Christ and we host a large number of our community who come to join the fun. We serve our guests the traditional “All American” hot dogs, watermelon and apple pie. We have a different speaker each year who keeps the audience spellbound. We gather to sing patriotic songs and release balloons in memory of our fallen servicemen. The entire community and their guests are invited to attend this celebration. We hope to see you there!

Camp Deer Run

The Holly Lake Church of Christ is a sponsor of Camp Deer Run. The camp is available for retreats, family reunions, etc. during all months except when camp is in session.

Connecting with God at Camp Deer Run: For over 50 years Camp Deer Run has offered young people the opportunity to encounter God in a unique way. Fun, friendships, and faith built up through expreiences in God's creation are all a part of this worderful place. Our program is rich in traditions that have spanned decades of campers. No tradition is more important than that camp has remained a sacred place where young people come to know Christ. So as we open the gates each summer we praise God for blessing us with over 50 years in His service. We invite you to spend time this summer away from the world, connecting with God.

Food Drive for the Holidays

Each year during the month of November the members of Holly Lake Church of Christ conduct a Food Drive to collect groceries to fill our Holiday Sacks for the needy. Our members are very generous with their food donations. Unused Brookshire Turkey Coupons are collected to help with this project. This is just one of the great works planned by our Outreach Committee.

Tuesday is Game & Fellowship Night

Tuesday night at 7:00 PM we have Game & Fellowship night at the church building. We play Canasta, 42, and Hand & Foot. Some players chose to meet for a meal at one of the locate Restaurants. Whether you chose to have a meal together or just come to the building for fun and fellowship each one is benefited by the fellowship.

Sharing Our Blessings

We have shared our blessings in January through September 2007 with a total expenditure of $7,518.90. We also have given out 48 sacks of groceries that has been generously donated by our members to assist needy families.
